OP1870 SCSI PERFORMANCE ANALYZER

| According to the marketing departments, each vendor has the best SCSI performance in the market place. Their performance is so great that they have saturated the SCSI bandwidth and are now exploring other technologies to keep up with their products. So why in reality are they running at less than 10% of SCSI bandwidth? The following are some of the reasons: 1) They dont know. There is not a consistent, reliable, easy way to measure and compare SCSI Performance. Performance measurements have ranged from using the "wall clock" to estimations to adding up logic analyzer traces. The measurements are usually made using an internal standard software program and predefined hardware configuration. Getting setup to make the measurements takes considerable time, highly technical personnel, and expensive measurement equipment. After all that data has been collected, it then needs to be parsed, categorized, then analyzed by highly technical personnel. Since accumulating this information is painful, it is tends to not happen very often or not at all. Solution: OPPCO has taken a fresh approach to this requirement. The OP1870 is not a modified logic analyzer, but a dedicated performance analysis system. Plug the OP1870 on the SCSI bus, and click your way to the results. You may take huge samples, or thousands of small samples. Results are displayed on the screen as data is being accumulated. You may display graphs, numbers, or both. Results may be saved, printed and output in data base formats.
2) They dont think their credibility will be challenged. Sometimes it is easier to say you are the best and let the competition prove you otherwise. Solution: The OP1870 has the capability of running two vendors devices side by side. This allows you to run the identical software, hardware configurations and operating conditions on both products simultaneously. It will not take long to determine true credibility.
3) They are not alone on the bus. In engineering labs, the bulk of the testing is done with one device on the bus, and in rare conditions multiple like devices, so measurements and decisions are made using unrealistic conditions. Solution: The OP1870 is an unbiased third party device that does not care about configurations, vendor names, operational software and device types. In the real world, multiple unlike devices and unlike operating characteristics are operating on the same bus as your equipment. You can watch the results of the entire SCSI bus or individual devices. SCSI IDs may be changed to see the large impact of interface priorities. The effects of QAS, Command Queuing, Queue Full conditions, Double Transition and Single Transition may easily be measured and compared. The OP1870 allows you to understand why the results are what they are.
Additional Considerations: Since the OP1870 has so many capabilities, we have gone to great lengths to make comprehensive, logical progressions to get to your desired answers. Included are numerous prewritten setup routines that cover most performance analysis requirements. Because the product is programmable, additional setups can be designed or modified, then downloaded to the user. Traces may be started, stopped, and manipulated under software control then output generated to files, printer, or other programs. The OP1870 is designed to be used by both technical personnel and managers alike so that measurements are easily taken and educated decisions may be made. OPPCO listens to the customer and strives to improve products through your suggestions and inputs.
